Cockapoos have become very popular recently, it can be hard to obtain one

but if if you are really smitten and have thought about all the costs, whether

or not you have time to look after one then its well worth the wait. Also you

have to consider whether you are ready for a change of lifestyle, what colour

you may want, some are easier to get than say buff or cream. They are low

shedders so can be good for allergies but it is not 100% garuanteed.

Never buy a puppy without seeing the Mother. Do not accept any excuses

about why the mother is not available to view, if the excuse sounds plausible

arrange to come on another day when the mother will be there, any reputable

breeder will be happy to do this. If the breeder is not forth coming in this do

not entertain a puppy as you will have no idea of what sort you are buying or

where it comes from.

Make sure the mother has a good temperament as she sets an important

example for the puppies to follow. Mothers should not mind you looking at

the puppies and handling them ( unless very young 4 weeks is about right.)

So if the mother is nervous or shows aggressiveness do not buy.

Puppies reared in the home are much more accustomed to

household noises, vacum cleaners, lawn mowers, music,

not to mention other animals cats and dogs etc.

If you are able visit more than one litter before you make up

your mind, so you have a comparison before finally choose

your new puppy. The breeder should give the opportunity

not just to see the pups with mum but pick each one up this

will help you decide in case they are shy or nervous.

Ask loads of questions also get information on the dad, if

possible see dad ( of course this is not always possible ) Questions are very

important especially if this is your first dog. You will need to know about feeding, vacinations, grooming etc. A good breeder will have most of the answers..

Buying a dog is a big commitment for the next 12-15 years, make sure you are committed and with all your love and attention it will be well worth it.
